idk how or why it happened, but I am suddenly obsessed with "Satellite," the song that won Eurovision in 2010. I downloaded it when I realized that the YouTube video was the first thing that showed up when I typed "s" into my address bar. IT'S NOT EVEN SUCH A GREAT SONG. Like, one of the lyrics is "I even painted my toenails for you." Real poetry right there.

I also downloaded the Norwegian song that won the year before, even though that one's not as good without the video of Alexander Rybak making cheesy faces at the camera while playing his violin.

EUROVISION 2012 IS NEXT WEEKEND! God what is wrong with me.

In RP news, things are heating up over at thereaped! WHOO CHILDMURDER. I really enjoyed the alliances I had over at The Odds (Chip/Ellis/Ari and 6/9/12!), but it's an interesting change of pace to have my character in with people he doesn't trust. I honestly don't know what he will do next or how he will react to things, which is crazy. However it happens, I hope the Careers+Cy pack implosion (come on, it's inevitable) will be intense.

I'm only a little bit sorry for spamming the community constantly with new things, but goddammit Cy just has a lot of feelings about everything. Also, I am trying to see if I can get full points. SHIT IS HARD. I just barely made it in the first week, and then I could rely on the Cornucopia for 1/3 of my points.

I should probably write a Mags reaction to things.

The ending for this round of gamemaker was SO GOOD! Kudos to Patty and Sarah for a breathtaking finale log! And great job to everyone else who made it to the last week: Bronte, Dena, and Meg!

I'm pretty excited for the next two rounds, and I hope we can get some intense endings there, even if we know who's going to win. I've got D11 girl in the 27th Games and the D2 boy in the 28th. Since tributes train together in District 2, I'd be totally down to log things with tributes from multiple rounds and/or Ash and Maia over at andends! When I finish him anyway. lmk!

MORE HUNGER GAMES GAME stuff. Over at thereaped, which is looking to be pretty awesome, I have Mags again at bobbingabove, but she's quite different. The fact that she's like 80 is really only the beginning. I also have the District 9 male tribute at huskered, the son of Luke's mentor at breached! Like everyone else, I have REQUESTS.

First, more old victors! Please! Mags could use some people to hang out with. There are a few older male victor spots in District 4, all of whom would likely have been Careers. There are older women spots in D1, D5, and D8, and Seeder! She's a mentor! Wouldn't it be great to play a mentor? And you get to play with Julie's Chaff at chaff!

Also, just a plot idea, but Katniss mentions that it's more common than coincidence for victors' kids to be drawn in the reaping, but as far as I can tell, it has only ever happened to Luke's mentor. So if you want to plot with Luke and commiserate with his mentor, that seems like a great place to start. D9 has another victor left alive from the 23red Games too. So yeah, those are my suggestions! thereaped looks like it's going to be awesome, and I'm super excited.

And finally, a request for the Hunger Games RP community at large: This is a canon. This is a canon. This is a canon. This is a CANNON. Pretty much everybody has made this mistake, so I'm not singling anyone out, but omg please be careful of this.

I'm reading A Clash of Kings alongside watching season 2 of Game of Thrones, which is really interesting because I know some things and have read the equivalent of some scenes, but obviously not everything. Last week's was kind of boring (even if I teared up a little at the end), but I have thoughts about this week.

First things first, this is not a spoiler, but I was sitting in the theater going, "Hey that plant with the droopy, waxy leaves looks familiar... that moss looks familiar..." and then I went home and looked it up, and THE ARENA SCENES WERE SHOT IN THE SAME PARK WHERE I WENT BACKPACKING.

But whatever, I will be so ready to hit the Appalachian trail for spring break! If I make it to spring break. Why do I insist on distracting myself with RP?

Just a note: I cut out lots of "HAHAHAHAs" when copying this conversation onto here because it is obnoxious how amusing we found ourselves.

Things I love: those random, last-minute revelations about characters that you get very late in apping (possibly after you've already submitted and/or told all your friends about her, as in this case) that totally change everything and make it way better.

YOU GUYS PROBABLY DON'T CARE, but Tris, my hold for District 12 (told you I was going for a shitty district!), is intentionally Katniss-lite because I thought having a Katniss-like sister would explain why Greasy Sae wound up taking care of her later in the series. I wound up going pretty much whole hog, making her a volunteer tribute with archery skills, but then I thought some and was like, what if it were switched and she didn't go because she volunteered but because her sibling didn't? So instead of taking care of Katniss because she reminds her of her dead sister, Greasy Sae takes care of her because of GUILT.

Basically this whole character is a really elaborate character-building exercise for a bit player in the series. IDGAF.

Also, I am meeting Veronica Roth on Monday, but I swear to God I came up with the name Tris before reading Divergent. And mine will be more interesting than hers. :|
